MERINO WOOL VS RECYCLED POLYESTER

Choosing a base layer isn’t about finding the better material – it’s about finding the right material for how you move.

Both our Merino wool and recycled polyester base layers are designed to manage moisture, keep you comfortable through changing activity levels and work as your first layer for all kinds of winter activities. The difference is in how they do it.

Merino wool naturally regulates temperature, manages moisture and resists odour – properties that are especially useful when temperatures change and days outside get long. Recycled polyester moves moisture away from the skin and dries quickly, with four-way stretch and full coverage that make the pieces versatile from first lift to whatever the day brings next.

Same purpose, different properties. Read on to find the right one for you.

WOOLMARK® MERINO WOOL

Natural temperature regulation for changing conditions.

Merino wool adapts as your body temperature and activity level change. The fibres help retain warmth when it’s cold while allowing excess heat and moisture to escape as you move – useful for days that shift between active runs, slower lifts and changing weather.

Merino can absorb moisture without immediately feeling wet against the skin and is naturally odour-resistant, making it a strong choice for long days outside, travelling and wearing your base layer several times between washes.

Our Merino base layers are made with Woolmark-certified Merino wool, chosen for its soft feel against the skin and natural performance.

Recycled polyester is built to handle movement and moisture. The fibres wick moisture away from the skin and dry quickly, helping you stay comfortable as your activity level changes – from active runs to slower lifts and everything in between.

With four-way stretch and a soft, opaque fabric, our recycled polyester base layers are made to move freely and work beyond the first layer. Wear them under your ski gear, on their own or across different activities throughout the day.
